First Aid Training

Children in Years 3 and 4 took part in a hands-on first aid training course this week. Mr Palmer explained to the children how to deal with minor injuries like cuts, burns and feinting. The children then practised bandaging each other's arms, had a go at putting a partner in the recovery position and even got to try out some CPR.
A huge thank you to Mr Palmer for delivering the session.

Tasty Technology Task

The children in Year 3 and 4 have completed their technology task in IPC this afternoon by making some lovely healthy salad pots.

We have talked about the importance of healthy diets and the idea of tasting a rainbow when choosing foods.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed creating their own rainbow of salad.  We even had some salad cocktails - a tasty twist on a traditional Friday favourite!

Teeth

Over the last few weeks, the Year 3 and 4 children have enjoyed investigating how effectively they clean their teeth.

In their IPC lessons, as part of their 'How Humans Work' unit, the children have been learning about the different types of teeth, the main job for each type of tooth and how animal teeth differ to human teeth.  They have considered the importance of oral health and the importance of visiting the dentist regularly.  They have also considered the importance of effective brushing to ensure they avoid cavities.

The children have had great fun using disclosing tablets to highlight the key areas that are more susceptible to decay.  The purple tablets show a pink area if the teeth have not been cleaned properly and areas which may contain plaque.

As you can see from our photographs, the children found this a very enjoyable investigation whilst learning some very important information about their own teeth along the way!

Phonics Information

I have uploaded the presentation that I used in my parents workshop onto the learning information page.  Phonics is a key skill for developing good reading and writing across all areas of the curriculum.

Please do not hesitate to see me if you have any questions.

Many thanks
