Diwali crafts

The children in Year 3 and 4 have just started their new IPC topic, Bright Sparks!

For their entry point they have been thinking about Diwali, the festival of light, and the traditions surrounding this celebration.

For their entry point, the children have had a go at designing their own rangoli patterns and making lanterns.

It was a creative, sticky start to the half term but it has set us up for another great IPC unit of work in which the children will be considering electricity, it's uses and dangers.

Visit to Hartlepool Mosque

On Thursday, the children were warmly welcomed to Hartlepool Mosque. Mr Atkinson explained to them about some aspects of Islam which we have been finding out about in class. This included about Muhammad's life and why he is important to Muslims, about the Qur'an and the Five Pillars of Islam. The children heard a call to prayer in Arabic. Then, the children were taken on a tour of the Mosque. Finally, we were treated to juice and biscuits. The children behaved beautifully and really showed their excellent manners and respectful attitudes.
